Betty J. Grams, 85, of Aldrich Lake, Sturgis, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at her home, following an extended illness.
She was born Dec. 13, 1931, in Sturgis, a daughter of Ivan and Grace (McGary) Notestine.
She was a resident of the Aldrich Lake area most of her life. She was a homemaker, enjoyed playing cards, bingo, bowling and trips to the casino. The most important and what she enjoyed most was her family and attending her grandchildren’s school activities and sports events.
She was first married to Jack T. Nichols, who died in 1968. She then married Robert A. Grams on April 24, 1976, in Colon. He survives, along with her children, Bobby (Caryn) Nichols of White Pigeon, Vicki (Dave) Atherton of White Pigeon and Cathy (Floyd) Marchand of Sturgis; a son-in-law, Dan Matinski of Sturgis; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; stepchildren Phillip and Scott Grams of Leadville, Pa., and Rhonda Gilger of Kinderhook; two sisters, Rosemary Wright of Paw Paw and Shirly (Ralph) Adams of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a daughter, Mary Matanski.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church in White Pigeon. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Steve Kaszar officiating. Interment will follow in White Pigeon Township Cemetery.
Donations may be directed to a high school athletic program of one’s choice.
