Motorcyclist dies in crash

A White Pigeon man died over the weekend when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a sport-utility vehicle in Elkhart County.

Indiana authorities said Austin Hersha, 29, was driving a 2003 Harley Davidson at 9:30 p.m. Sunday northbound on County Road 23 near the intersection of County Road 104.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s officials said the motorcycle collided with a 2006 GMC Envoy heading south on County Road 23 at the intersection, located near the town of Bristol. The SUV was driven by 31-year-old Bristol resident Shane Tom.

Hersha suffered head injuries and died as a result of the crash. Hersha was not wearing a helmet, police said.
