A collection of Styrofoam products last weekend at Waste Management’s Westside Recycling in Fabius Township drew a large response, according to volunteers who worked the event.
Saturday morning’s four-hour collection drew enough product that, combined with the first-ever Styrofoam collection in June, there is now enough for Mason-based Dart Container Corp. officials to retrieve the collected Styrofoam.
Waste Management’s Eric Shafer said about six bags to fill barrel-like containers called gaylords were gathered in June, meaning roughly 14 bags were filled Saturday.
Shafer said he appreciates the public’s interest and participation. The company will announce the date of the next collection once a date has been set. Shafer said he suspects it will take place in January.
