White Pigeon man arrested for attempted kidnapping

State police arrested a White Pigeon man Tuesday morning after he allegedly attempted to kidnap his wife.

Troopers were called at 10:45 a.m. to Indian Prairie Road and U.S. 131 in White Pigeon Township, where a witness saw the suspect chase the victim down the road and force her back into a vehicle. The witness followed the vehicle until it crossed the Indiana state line.

Troopers were able to identify the suspect and the victim, and determined there was a history of domestic violence between the two. Authorities said the suspect had recently attempted to purchase a firearm.

A trooper located the suspect vehicle at 1:20 p.m. and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect, a 28-year-old man, was arrested without incident and lodged for kidnapping, domestic violence and violation of conditional release.
