Fundraiser benefits local woman

More than 200 people over the course of five hours Saturday took part in a fundraiser to benefit Colon resident Megan Colpetsir, a mother of six.

Currently on leave from her job as an inspector at Maxitrol, the 33-year-old Colpetsir will begin 20 weeks of chemotherapy sessions in mid-November. She was diagnosed with Stage 2B breast cancer after discovering a lump through a self-exam.

Saturday’s benefit was organized by co-workers Jennifer Greenwald, Amy Kline and Crystal Delp. In just two weeks, the trio secured an impressive collection of raffle items from business in Colon, Bronson and elsewhere in St. Joseph County.

Greenwald said the benefit raised in excess of $8,500.

Colpetsir said she was at a loss to express her gratitude and thanked everyone involved for their prayers and support.

Anyone wishing to help is urged to type “donation” in the subject line and send an email to: volleyxout@gmailcom.
