Project Connect welcomes hundreds of attendees

It drew fewer people compared to 2016, but Friday’s Project Connect was deemed a success by its organizers.

The 11th annual gathering took place at Firm Foundation Ministries in Centreville, where about 500 people attended. Pastor Rod Detweiler said the event was promoted as a clearinghouse for people in need of aid, services and information related to just about any agency in St. Joseph County.

The help available ranged from those aiding seniors, veterans and the working poor, to health, education and people in need of food.

Detweiler said just because about 100 fewer people attended Friday compared to last year, by no means was it a disappointment. He said consideration will be given to moving next year’s Project Connect to a Saturday.
