State Sen. John Proos during a recent ceremony at the St. Joseph County Grange Fair honored Vietnam veterans and family members of deceased veterans.
Proos said Michigan’s Vietnam veterans deserve respect and appreciation for serving in the defense of freedom. He added that the vast majority of Vietnam veterans served with honor, yet they were often forgotten when they returned home.
Proos said he was proud to host a lapel-pinning ceremony, which recognized the 50-year anniversary of the Vietnam War. It gave long-overdue recognition to more than 260 Vietnam veterans and their families on behalf of a grateful nation, Proos said.
Proos was joined by Rep. Aaron Miller to present Vietnam War commemorative lapel pins to Southwest Michigan veterans who served on active duty at any time during the Vietnam War era, regardless of location.
