Ruth Williams, 88

Ruth Ellen Williams, age 88, of Portage Lake, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at her home. She was born on July 28, 1929 in Bremen, Indiana and later graduated from Bremen High School. She has been a resident of the Mendon area since 1955. Ruth had worked at G-W Pizza, and operated the Tastee Freeze in Mendon. She later worked at L & T Machine in Centreville, and retired from the St. Joseph County Friend of the Court.

Ruth was an active member of the Three Rivers Eagles Lodge #2303. She was a former member of the American Legion Post #170 Auxiliary, The Three Rivers Moose Lodge #474, Three Rivers Elks Lodge #1248, and the Fraternal Order of Police #106. She enjoyed arts and crafts, flower gardening, and cooking.

Ruth is survived by a daughter, Janice (Bruce) Hoffmaster of Three Rivers; four grandchildren, Jeff Cupp and Angie Cupp both of Mendon, Jared (Beth) Hoffmaster of Three Rivers, and Eric (Jen) Hoffmaster of Froostproof, FL; nine great-grandchildren, Justin (Nicole) McClish, Austin (Taylor Norris) McClish, Payton Cupp, Colin Cupp, Lincoln, London, Landen, Lizzi, and Hayden Hoffmaster; three great-great-grandchildren, Makira, Malia, and Gavin McClish; a brother, Paul (Cynthia) Price of Bremen, IN; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Dean Weaver, Jacob Strobel, and Jack Williams; three sisters, Donnabelle Shidler, Doris Clark, and Thelma Young; and a grandson, John Cupp.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017 in Mendon Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Kirouac officiating. Memorial donations may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
