Woman charged with assault after stabbing

An 18-year-old Sturgis woman was charged with felonious assault after she allegedly stabbed a man multiple times earlier this week in White Pigeon Township.

Sheriff’s officials said they were called at 9:20 p.m. Monday to the 11000 block of Riverside Drive in response to a domestic assault.

Upon arrival, deputies found a 29-year-old man with a number of stab wounds that were later found to be caused by a fork, investigators said. The victim, who was stabbed in the head and neck areas, said the incident was the result of an argument between friends.

He was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.
