Sharon Ann Stigter, age 65, of Burr Oak, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
Sharon was born June 29, 1952, in Evergreen Park, Ill., a daughter of Louis and Dolores (Grimaldi) Reiner.
On June 23, 1973, she married Robert L. Stigter in Palos Heights, Ill.
Sharon received her bachelor’s degree in education from Governors State University in University Park, Ill. She had worked as a teacher for Orland Park School District, retiring in 2011.
She had made her home in Burr Oak on Long Lake for the past seven years, coming from Frankfort, Ill.
Sharon enjoyed crafting, gardening and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Stigter of Burr Oak; her mother, Dolores Reiner of Orland Park, Ill.; four children, Robert L. (Jennifer) Stigter Jr. of Plainfield, Ill., Jason (Jewel) Stigter of Chicago, Julie (William) LePinske of Plainfield, Ill., and Rebecca (Brian) Tomillo of Aurora, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Louis (Marianne) Reiner of Tinley Park, Ill., and Dean Reiner of Lake Zurich, Ill.; a sister, Doreen Reiner of Tinley Park, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Reiner.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Sharon A. Stigter will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 Brook Forest Ave., Shorewood, Ill., with the Rev. Dennis J. Paul officiating.
