Branch county crash

State police last week responded to a three-vehicle crash involving a wrong-way driver on an interstate in Branch County.

According to a department media release, troopers were advised at 11:25 p.m. Friday that a Jeep entered the southbound lanes of Interstate 69 by driving north onto the exit ramp in Coldwater Township.

The Jeep struck the rear trailer of a two-trailer semi, sending the Jeep off the side of the highway, coming to rest on its roof.

A third vehicle became involved after its driver was unable to avoid debris in the roadway. The semi and third vehicle managed to eventually get off the highway without any other vehicles impacted by the incident.

The driver of the Jeep was treated at Community Health Center of Branch County, and subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated, authorities said.
