Centreville Schools will seek business manager

Members of Centreville Public Schools Board of Education have voted to allow superintendent Stephanie Lemmer to post the position of a full-time business manager.

The move will let Lemmer explore options for business office staffing after the St. Joseph County Intermediate School District employee who currently holds the position part-time leaves in January.

Hiring decisions would come back to the board. Since the business manager Centreville shared with Mendon resigned in November 2014, Centreville has contracted with ISD and has had four part-time business managers. Board president Heather Bright asked Lemmer to consider the financial impact of hiring a business manager, since previously Centreville had shared the salary with Mendon.

Lemmer said that the average salary for a business manager in a district of Centreville’s size is $65,000, with benefits bringing the total compensation to more than $100,000.
