Representatives from Fleis & Vandenbrink Engineering gave a presentation recently about the Constantine wastewater system and asset management planning.
Jon Moxie and Lindsay Sagorski said parts of the village system are from the 1940s and in bad shape.
Moxie said sewer and water rates are set so the village is just breaking even. He suggested the village begin setting aside funds to address future problems.
Information from a flow-monitoring study showed high-infiltration level of 40 million gallons entering the wastewater system.
Village Manager Mark Honeysett said that prior to a pipe-lining procedure, the infiltration rate was much higher, at 100 million gallons.
