Man injured golf cart crash

A Cass County man was injured after the golf cart he was driving was struck by a car earlier this week.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called around 8:30 a.m. Monday to the intersection of Grange and Five Points roads in Mason Township.

Investigators said 69-year-old James Bercraft of Cassopolis was on Five Points Road waiting for traffic to clear at the intersection. A car driven by Lisa Strong, 40, also of Cassopolis, turned left from Grange Road onto Five Points Road and struck Bercraft’s golf cart.

Deputies said it appears Strong crossed into the northbound lane on Five Points Road as she was making the left-hand turn.

Bercraft was treated at Elkhart General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
