Sturgis groups awarded grants

The Youth Advisory Council of the Sturgis Area Community Foundation awarded its 2017 Fall Cycle YAC grants aimed at funding youth-serving projects in the Sturgis area.

This year’s YAC grant recipients include The Children’s Trauma Assessment Group, receiving $12,500 to continue providing support and resources for children who have experienced trauma.

Other recipients were Student Help and Healing Center, receiving $ 1,000 for its project “Respect Effect,” which will promote healthy relationships and educate teens, parents and community leaders on the dangers and signs of dating abuse.

Sturgis Public Schools, receiving $400 to support its 2018 Freshman Orientation.

Sturgis Youth For Christ, receiving $ 2,500 in support of a new Middle School mentoring program.

The next YAC grant application deadline is March 2. Applications are available online at sturgisfoundation.org.
