Sturgis – Medical marijuana ordinance

Sturgis city staff brought a draft medical marijuana ordinance to last week’s city commission meeting for discussion and questions.

The ordinance and zoning amendments will go to the planning commission for a public hearing and recommendation to the city commission Jan. 16.

The ordinance would allow all five types of facilities – growers, processors, secure transporters, provisioning centers and safety-compliance facilities – in the manufacturing districts and provisioning centers in all commercial zoning districts.

There would be buffer zones of 1,000 feet from schools for growers, processers, secure transporters and safety compliance facilities.
