Traffic stop leads to three arrests

A bag of methamphetamine, other narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered in a car stopped by Sturgis police last week.

According to a department media release, officers stopped a vehicle with an expired registration at 6:40 p.m. Thursday at West West and North Jefferson streets.

The driver was detained after his identity was unable to be established. Meanwhile, officers located inside the vehicle a clear, plastic bag that contained methamphetamine thanks to a more-thorough search by K9 Tucky.

The driver, a 27-year-old Sturgis man, was charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana, possession of meth, possession of drug equipment and misdemeanor traffic offenses.

Two passengers had active warrants out of St. Joseph County and were taken into custody, as well.
