Centreville declines Nottawa Township requests

Centreville Village Council members recently responded to a letter from Nottawa Township regarding a variety of issues.

The communication from Nottawa Township asked the village to help pay for ambulance service, take care of the maintenance on the Pioneer Cemetery and increase the rent payment for the village offices.

The council declined in all cases. Its members said taxes it already paid should cover the ambulance, that the township had always done the maintenance on the cemetery and that the office personnel would move out by June 1.

A committee comprised of trustees Ken Griffith, Gary McClain and Steve Quake, plus Department of Public Works and office personnel, have been named to a building committee.
