Charles Lover, 70

Charles William Lover, age 70, of Sturgis, passed away early Thursday morning, Jan. 4, 2018, at his home.
He was born March 19, 1947, in Gratiot County, Mich., son of the late Eugene and Nellie (Blount) Lover.
Charles was a longtime Sturgis resident. His early life was spent in Elsie, Mich., where he was a graduate of Elsie High School.
He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War earning the rank of Private First Class.
He enjoyed walking and visiting with friends and family.
He is survived by one son, Charles W. (Amy) Lover Jr. of Hudson, Ind.; one step-daughter, Donna (Ray) Bontrager of Sturgis; six grandchildren, Simon, Cloie, Joe, Scott, Brandy and Stacie; one brother, Raymond Lover; and one sister, Betty Lover both of Bannister.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one step-daughter, Dawn Hammond; one sister; and six brothers.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284. Funeral services celebrating the life of Charles W. Lover will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A graveside committal will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta where full military honors will be conferred by The Fort Custer Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
