Civility in St. Joseph County

In a county-wide effort to encourage a more welcoming community in which to live and work, chambers of commerce in Three Rivers and Sturgis joined in 2017 to create and promote the “St. Joseph County Statement on Civility.”

The statement is a document that organizations, boards of directors and committees can adopt to facilitate respectful communications and allow their meetings to be more productive and efficient. The Statement on Civility recognizes that all people are entitled to their own views, but those views should be expressed in a respectful way that does not attack others.

The initiative has gotten off to a tremendous start with enthusiastic acceptance by 24 boards in the county.

They are:

Village of Centreville St. Joseph County Road Commission
