County Commission approves funding to 2 agencies

Members of the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners earlier this month fulfilled their annual financial commitment to a pair of dependent agencies.

During the board’s Jan. 16 meeting, it authorized an appropriation of more than $250,000 to Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services of St. Joseph County.

The budgeted funds will be distributed through quarterly transfers by the county treasurer’s office.

In addition, the five-member board agreed to fulfill an allocation of nearly $300,000 to the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency.

The amount is $9,100 more than what was allocated for 2017.

Passage of the resolution also completes the annual $1 rent agreement between the two entities for the Community Health Agency’s St. Joseph County location on Hill Street in Three Rivers.
