Sturgis considers disc golf course

The city of Sturgis is considering a plan to partner with St. Joseph County Parks and Recreation Department for development of a disc golf course.

City manager Mike Hughes suggested that the city help fund material costs such as signage, tees and golf baskets for about $17,000. In turn, the county would construct, install, own and operate it.

Hughes said Cade Lake County Park in Fawn River Township would be a good spot for the course.

Hughes said he will keep the subject at the forefront and continue discussions with parks and recreation officials.

  1. This is a great idea! I am a fellow disc golfer and love the fact that it gets folks outdoors and exercising. Please consider the benefits you would be providing in your consideration. Thanks.
