Wes Oliver, 88

Wesley “Wes” A. Oliver, age 88, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Borgess Medical Center. He was born in Chicago on August 3, 1929, a son of Zeffa Oliver. Wes attended Mendon Public Schools and went on to serve in the United States Army. On June 1, 1956, he married Norma Kimball in Cass County.

Wes retired from Essex Wire after 20 years of employment as a watchman in the late 1980’s. He previously worked for Constantine Creamery for 7 years, and was a farmer for most of his life. Wes loved his animals. He especially loved his horses, which is what tied their family together.

Surviving Wes are his wife Norma Oliver of Constantine, daughter Patty Marie Schneeberger of Constantine, son Ray (Laura Harwin) Oliver of Pittsburgh, grandchildren Sheri (Bob) Komdeur of North Carolina, Laura (Jacob) Schroeder of Portland, MI, and Anton Schneeberger of Constantine; and sister-in-law Polly Oliver of Three Rivers.

He was preceded in death by his mother Zeffa Oliver, daughter Susie Oliver, and brother Louis Oliver.

Cremation has taken place. Friends and relatives will be received Saturday, January 13 from 11-12 at First Congregational Church-United Church of Christ (360 S. Washington St., Constantine, MI 49042) where memorial services will follow at 12 PM. Pastor Kathy Schuen will officiate. Reception to follow until 2:00 PM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church or your choice of charity. Arrangements were entrusted to Eley Funeral Home, Constantine.
