Glen Oaks receives donated welding simulator

Students in the welding program at Glen Oaks Community College are learning welding techniques on a new welding simulator thanks to the generosity of a $20,000 donation from Morgan Olson LLC.

Through the use of the simulator, students virtually train with different types of welding on a computer screen before applying hands-on training in the school’s welding lab.

Morgan Olson President and Chief Operating Officer Mike Ownbey said the company is pleased to be able to provide the simulator to enhance student training and add value to the welding program.

The $19,500 simulator was purchased from Praxair Welding Gas and Supply Center. It serves 18 students currently enrolled in the St. Joseph County Career and Technical Education program and 16 students enrolled in the Glen Oaks Welding program.
