Janet Thrams, 71

Janet Louise (Acker) Thrams, age 71, of Burr Oak, passed away early Wednesday morning, Feb. 7, 2018, at Sturgis Hospital.
She was born June 19, 1946, in Kendallville, Ind., a daughter of the late Orville and Margaret (Rice) Acker.
Janet resided most of her life in the Burr Oak area. Her early life was lived in the Mongo, Ind., area, where she was a graduate of Mongo High School with the class of 1964.
She owned and operated Janet’s Beauty Salon for 18 years. She also had worked for several years at Doerr Products in Burr Oak.
Janet attended First Congregational Church in Bronson, where she was a part of the Scrappy Quilters group. She enjoyed cooking, painting and sewing. Janet had hobbies and involvements, but what Meemaw loved the very most in life was time hanging out with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Jolene (Tom) Sikorski of Bronson; two sons, Rusty Sword of Three Rivers and Rick Sword of Palm Springs, Calif.; her former husband, Doug Thrams of Burr Oak; a stepson, Jason Thrams of Nappanee, Ind.; three granddaughters, Makayla Sikorski, Kelcy Sikorski and Rylee Sword; two step-grandchildren, Kristyna Thrams and Douglas Thrams; two sisters, Donna (Berbage) Moore of Orland, Ind., and Judy (John) Grimes of Leesburg, Fla.; two brothers, Tom (Rosie) Acker of Orland and Dan (Kim) Acker of Somerset, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Charles “Bud” Acker.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Janet L. “Meemaw” Thrams will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Glenn Russell, Chaplain of Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis will officiate. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will follow the service.
