Local help for flood victims

The Salvation Army of Sturgis has announced it will provide clean-up kits, clothing vouchers, household items, furniture and food for flood victims.

Salvation Army can also help pay for damaged household items such as a furnace or water heater as long as it is $1,000 or less.

Proof of address is required, such as a photo ID or mail with current address. Prospective recipients will also need proof that they are a flood victim.

The Salvation Army is located at 105 N. Fourth St. An appointment is required and can be made by phoning 651-4275.

Meanwhile, anyone in need of housing assistance or hotel vouchers is advised to first appeal to the Red Cross.

Also, the Stone Cottage Free Store, at the corner of Bennett and West streets in Three Rivers, is open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and 9 a.m. to noon Fridays.
