Local man dies after being hit by vehicle

A Three Rivers-area man, informally known as “The Bicycle Man” died Tuesday after the bicycle he was riding was struck by a pickup Friday evening in Park Township.

Bob Kellogg, 53, was commonly seen on the shoulders of U.S. 131, riding his bicycle, and collecting bottles and cans.

Stan Brueck, who runs a Free Store in Three Rivers and found odd jobs for Kellogg, said Kellogg lived in a tent on his mother’s M-216 property, west of the U.S. 131 intersection. Brueck said Kellogg was a solitary man who had a rough upbringing and later in life went through a volatile divorce.

Brueck said Kellogg was an organ donor and two people have already received his organs as of Wednesday.

An account to cover Kellogg’s funeral expenses has been set up at Fifth/Third bank in Three Rivers.
