Five people were arrested following the execution of a search warrant at a Sturgis residence.
St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department said SCAN members last week went to the 500 block of Susan Avenue to apprehend Renee Garten for a narcotics-related warrant.
SCAN unit members confirmed she and a number of other people were inside the residence. Garten, however, allegedly refused to exit the residence, according to authorities.
SCAN unit members obtained a search warrant and located numerous items related to narcotics use and distribution.
Garten, along with two females and two males, were charged with narcotics violations related to methamphetamine and marijuana, deputies said.
The SCAN unit was assisted by the St Joseph County Road Patrol, Sturgis Police Department and White Pigeon Police Department.
