Sturgis names interim superintendent

Sturgis Public Schools Board of Education has agreed to offer the position of interim superintendent to Rob Olsen.

Current superintendent Tom Langdon announced more than a year ago he plans to retire at the end of March.

During a Monday meeting, district officials concurred Olsen would be the best candidate for the three-month period ending June 30. Kerri Millett, Gwen Donmyer and Scott Boland had comprised a committee to select an interim superintendent.

The board approved the offer and will continue to work on a contract, which will be subject to approval by both parties.

Olsen is a former Sturgis Public Schools superintendent and also served a six-month role as interim superintendent with Portage Public Schools earlier this decade.
