TR residents advised to be observant

The Three Rivers Police Department is advising residents to remain observant in light of two incidents that occurred within the past week.

In the first incident, a woman on the city’s River Trail Monday this week observed a man playing with a knife as he sat on a bench with a baby stroller at his side. He asked the woman if she would like to see the baby, and she declined.

The man followed the woman from the trail to Scidmore Park. He then put the stroller in the back of a pickup truck and followed the woman to South Lincoln Avenue and then South Street before driving away.

On Wednesday, a woman was approached outside Walgreens by a man who tried to get her inside a car parked behind a business next door.

The woman thwarted his effort and he fled the scene.

Chief Tom Bringman said the incidents are not related but people should remain aware of their surroundings at all times.
