Driver faces multiple charges following traffic stop

A Sturgis man was arrested on drug-related charges following a traffic stop earlier this week in Sturgis.

According to officers, the suspect’s vehicle was pulled over shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday on South Nottawa Street at Bogen Road following a traffic violation.

According to a department media release, the officer in charge of the stop became suspicious of drug activity because of the driver’s behavior. The driver was detained and K-9 Tucky was brought to the scene. A search of the vehicle was conducted after Tucky responded positively to the presence of narcotics.

The 21-year-old driver was charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, probation violation and violation of bond conditions, according to authorities.
