Jim Andrews, 84

James T. Andrews, age 84, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018, at his home.
He was born Sept. 15, 1933, in Sturgis, a son of the late Thurman “Speck” and Ruth (Woodruff) Andrews.
Jim was a lifelong Sturgis resident and a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1952.
On April 27, 1955, he married Evelyn Luginbill in Sturgis. She died March 29, 2008.
Jim was a talented meat-cutter by trade and had worked at several area grocery stores, retiring from Kroger in Sturgis following 12 years of dedicated employment.
He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Sturgis and enjoyed playing golf, bowling and loved fishing and hunting.
He is survived by a daughter, Karen (Jim) Haack of Rogers City; two sons, Michael (Karen) Andrews of Sturgis and Steve (Deb Kintigh) Andrews of Centreville; three grandchildren, James Andrews, Tim Andrews and Christin (Justin) Wells; two step-grandchildren, James Rundman and Lisa Nichols; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon (Grace) Andrews of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, David Andrews; and a brother, Buddy Andrews.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of James Andrews will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Sturgis. The Rev. James Pearson will officiate. Private burial of the ashes will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with arrangements.
