Gov. Rick Snyder has declared April 8-14 as “Severe Weather Awareness Week.”
As a result, Snyder, Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security are encouraging businesses, organizations and families to be a part of a statewide tornado drill next week.
The voluntary drill will be conducted at 1 p.m. April 11.
The average lead time for tornadoes is 10 to 15 minutes, which means citizens have little time to react appropriately when a warning is issued.
