Breaking-and-entering in Calhoun County

State police were called to a Calhoun County residence this week in response to a breaking-and-entering incident.

According to a department media release, troopers responded at 10:36 a.m. Tuesday to an Athens Township residence. The 57-year-old homeowner said he was awakened to the sound of someone knocking on the door to his residence.

He told investigators he was met by a white male and female who had entered the rear door of the residence.

The homeowner retrieved a knife and confronted the pair, according to authorities. The male suspect brandished a gun as he and his accomplice left the scene in an older Chevy Suburban. It was last scene heading west on W Avenue into Kalamazoo County.
