Disc golf course opens at Cade Lake County Park

St. Joseph County Parks and Recreation Department officials over the weekend opened the agency’s newest amenity: a disc golf course.

A tournament to celebrate the newest attraction at Cade Lake County Park in Fawn River Township drew 53 participants Saturday to what has been named Deadwood Disc Golf Course.

The 18-hole course threads through mature trees at the park, which cost about $13,000 to develop and was created through a partnership with the city of Sturgis.

Tournament director Tim Sylvain praised the collaboration between the city and county, and said he is optimistic the attraction will draw participants from near and far.
