Dorothy J. Wolf, age 88, of Lake Wales, Fla., and a longtime Sturgis resident, passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at Winter Haven Hospital in Winter Haven, Fla.
She was born Sept. 26, 1929, in Sturgis, the only child of the late Clarence and Margaret (Lytle) Bohyer.
Dorothy resided in Sturgis from her birth until 2001, when she moved permanently to Florida and enjoyed wintering in Florida from 1994.
On Sept. 17, 1960, she married Charles S. Wolf in Sturgis. He died Sept. 13, 1998.
Most of Dorothy’s working life was as a secretary. She retired from Harter Corporation in Sturgis in 1994, following 38 years of dedicated employment. She also had been employed by National Carbon Coated Paper Company in Sturgis for 10 years.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis, Pythian Sisters Pocahontas Temple #121, American Legion Post #454 Auxiliary of Colon and the National Secretary Association. She was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1947 and enjoyed playing golf, crafts, needlework, bowling, reading and traveling.
Dorothy is survived by several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and longtime companion Raymond Harmon.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis, followed by a memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Dorothy J. Wolf at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Marilyn Schlimgen will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the memorial service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with the arrangements.
