George Tracy, 87

George Fredric Tracy, age 87, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 19, 2018, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born Dec. 30, 1930, in Alma, Mich., son of the late Freddie and Iva (Zimmerman) Tracy.
George resided in Sturgis since 2011 coming from Zephyrhills, Fla., where he lived several years. His early life was spent in Lansing.
On Feb. 13, 1954, he married Anna Mae Butcher in Angola. She died Feb. 11, 2013.
George was a talented die repairman and retired from Melling Drop Forge in Lansing, following 32 years of dedicated employment.
He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army serving two years in Germany during the Korean War earning the rank of Private.
George was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a past All State Commander.
He loved restoring old bicycles and working on puzzles. He was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions. George and Anna loved ballroom dancing, riding motorcycles and traveling.
He is survived by three daughters: Kimber Tracy of Sturgis, Tammy Tracy of Delton and Sheila (Larry) Robinson of Longview, Texas; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law: Robert (Carolyn) Butcher of St. John’s; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant son; and son: Ricky Tracy; brother: Melvin “Bud” Tracy and two sisters: Donna Rose Peterson and Kathleen Hester.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis.  269-651-3284. Funeral services celebrating the life of George F. Tracy will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Father Raul Gomez of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta where full military honors will be conferred by the Fort Custer and U.S. Army Honor Guards.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial donations be directed to the St. Joseph County Commission on Aging Meals on Wheels, 103 S. Douglas Ave., Three Rivers, MI 49093.
