Investigation continues in fatal motorcycle crash

Law-enforcement officials said they are still waiting for results of a toxicology report for further clues into a fatal accident earlier this month.

St. Joseph County Undersheriff Mark Lillywhite said the results will determine whether the driver of a car that caused the accident at U.S. 131 and Broadway Street had suffered a medical incident resulting in her vehicle colliding into the back of motorcycles driven by Mike Frye and Ann Lakey-Frye.

The incident occurred May 5 and killed Lakey-Frye at the scene. They were northbound and stopped at the traffic signal at Broadway Street when they were struck from behind by a minivan driven by Louise Sellers, 77, of Middlebury, Ind.

Lillywhite said as far as he knows, the case has not yet been reviewed by the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.
