Local woman killed in motorcycle crash

The wife of a local fire chief died over the weekend in a motorcycle accident in Three Rivers.

Investigators said Patricia Frye, age 66, the spouse of Mike Frye, chief of Fabius-Park Fire Department, died in the 7:30 p.m. incident Saturday..

Mike Frye, age 55, meanwhile, was critically injured when the motorcycles he and his wife were driving were struck from behind on U.S. 131.

St. Joseph County Sheriff deputies said the couple were northbound and stopped at the traffic signal at Broadway Street when they were struck by a minivan driven by Louise Sellers, age 77, of Middlebury.

Patricia Frye was pronounced dead at the scene. Mike Frye was taken to Three Rivers Health and later airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Sellers was taken to Three Rivers Health and later transferred to Bronson Methodist Hospital.
