Multiple injuries in Cass County crash

Three Indiana residents were injured in a one-vehicle accident over the weekend in Cass County’s Newberg Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday to Quaker Street, near Savage Road.

Investigators said 20-year-old Elkhart resident Colin Schieber was driving eastbound on Quaker Street, when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to go into a ditch and then roll multiple times.

Schieber, and passengers Austin Feldman, 22, of Elkhart and 21-year-old Bristol resident Gage Lambdin were ejected from the vehicle, as authorities believe seatbelts were not used.

Schieber was transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital and Feldman was taken to Three Rivers Health then airlifted to Bronson. Lambdin was airlifted to South Bend Memorial.

Investigators said speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the incident.
