Richard H. Beatty Sr., age 80, of Constantine, passed away peacefully at 1:22 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2018, surrounded by his family, at Sturgis Hospital.
He was born April 25, 1938, in Sparta, N.J., a son of the late Eldridge and Lillian (Willis) Beatty.
Richard resided in Constantine since 2000, coming from Three Rivers.
He retired from American Electroids Inc. in Middlebury, Ind., following many years of dedicated employment.
Richard was a veteran of the National Guard, serving from 1959-1963.
He had a true appreciation of music and was a talented guitarist. He especially enjoyed the music of Hank Williams Sr. and most all bluegrass music.
Richard is survived by his life-long soul mate, Janet Hodgson of Constantine; two sons, Wayne Little (widower of Lois Little) of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., and Richard H. Beatty Jr. (and spouse, Darlene) of Sturgis; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and expecting his first great-great-grandchild in August; his siblings, Joy Smith of Lafayette, N.J., Beverly Degraw of Dingmans Ferry, Ruth Degraw of Lake Okeechobee, Fla., Roland “”Roy”” Beatty of Indianapolis, Vivian Frankenfield of Tucson, Ariz., and June Marlborough of Sussex County, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Eldridge Robert Beatty and Terry Beatty.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Private burial of the ashes will take place Friday morning at Peek Cemetery in Florence Township.
The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with the arrangements.
