Michigan Department of Transportation has awarded a state transportation grant that will support 15 new jobs in Schoolcraft.
Chem Link, a manufacturer of solvent-free adhesives, sealants and architectural products, is planning a $5 million expansion and renovation of its facility at East Lyons and Angell streets. The expansion includes new building space and equipment, resulting in the creation of 15 jobs.
Project cost is $220,000, including $132,000 in TEDF Category A funding, and $88,000 provided by the village of Schoolcraft.
Angell Street, which leads to the only access to the company’s loading docks, has become deteriorated due to inadequate width and drainage problems. To address the problem, the village of Schoolcraft will widen and resurface the roadway, in addition to drainage improvements.
The work will allow for improved commercial truck access to the facility and extend the life of the roadway.
