Cass County crash injures woman

Alcohol is suspected of being a factor in an accident that injured a Cassopolis woman this week in Cass County’s Mason Township.

The incident occurred at 1:30 p.m. Monday on Mason Street, east of Gordon Road.

Investigators said a sport-utility vehicle driven by 49-year-old Stacey Garritano was heading east when she lost control of the vehicle and it struck a tree.

The vehicle then overturned and came to rest on its side in the roadway. Garritano was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to St. Joseph Memorial Hospital via MedFlight.

Seatbelt use is unknown.
