Louie Austin Sweet II, age 79, of Marcellus, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018. He was born October 22, 1938, the son of Austin and Muriel E. Sweet.
On December 19, 1959, in Northville, MI, he married Margaret G. McGee who passed away December 26, 2008.
Louie was a student at Grant High School before joining the U.S. Air Force as a Basic Airman, and was awarded the “Good Conduct” medal on May 6, 1960. He was honorably discharged with the rank of A2C E-3 (P) 303d Air Refueling Squad (SAC).Louie was a lifelong member of the American Legion, who enjoyed watching the Lions and Tigers play, but most of all he enjoyed all University of Michigan sports, especially Michigan football. Louie’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, and watching John Wayne movie classics.
Surviving are his siblings; one brother: Rick (Gayle) Sweet, two sisters: Pat Sweet and Janet (Alan) Short, children; one son: William Sweet of Marcellus, one daughter: Robyn (James Jr.) Thomas also of Marcellus, grandchildren: Muriel (Lee) Oswalt, Ashlee (Aaron) Stevens, and Laura Thomas, great-grandchildren: Madelynn and Sophee Stevens, and cousin: Marsha (Jerry) Beards.
Louie is preceded in death by his loving wife Margaret G. Sweet, one son: Danny Sweet, and his parents Austin (stepmother: Pearl) and Muriel E. Sweet
The family will receive friends for visitation services Friday, August 10, 2018, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Mater-Ralston Funeral Home in Marcellus. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 11, 2018, in the funeral home with Pastor John Messner officiating. Burial will follow in the Marcellus Cemetery.
