Arson and drug charges for Sherwood Township man

A Sherwood Township man was arrested Tuesday on a charge of arson and possession of methamphetamine.

State police said troopers were called to the 1200 block of Chippewa Drive in Branch County in response to a 40-year-old man setting a shed on fire. Investigators learned the property’s landlord planned to evict the man and his wife, and that the arson was done in an apparent act of retaliation, authorities said.

A search warrant of the residence was executed and suspected methamphetamine was seized.

The man was charged with third-degree arson and possession of meth.
