A Dowagiac woman was involved in a single-vehicle accident shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday in Cass County’s Wayne Township.
Sheriff Richard Behnke said 17-year-old Latasha Montaro was driving west in Marcellus Highway when she lost control of her car as it approached a curve in the roadway.
Montaro had had managed to exit the wreckage, and told investigators she was driving too fast before losing control of her vehicle, which ran off the roadway to the left and struck a dirt embankment. The vehicle rolled over at least once, deputies said.
Montaro was transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Speed was a factor in the incident, though alcohol was not. Montaro was wearing a seatbelt, deputies said.
