David Hally Conklin, age 67, of LaGrange, passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 4, 2018, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
He was born Aug. 8, 1950, in Owosso, Mich., son of the late Hally and Orpha Amelia (Ketchum) Conklin.
On Oct. 5, 1968, he married Flora Jean Hill at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burr Oak.
David was a member of the Meridian Sun-Eagle Lodge #49 F&AM. For many years he enjoyed playing Santa Clause at Christmas time. David loved playing the lottery, especially scratch off tickets.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years: Flora Jean; one daughter: Angela (Matt) Harvey of Athens; one granddaughter: Kayley Harvey at home; two sisters: Reama Day of Dayton, Tennessee and Peggy “Susie” Parr of Burr Oak; three brothers: Terry (Lanette) Conklin of Burr Oak, Ronald Conklin of Spring Hill, Tennessee and Lonnie (Robin) Palmer of Burr Oak and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Kenneth Conklin and one sister: Jackie Lee Hollenbeck.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of David Hally Conklin will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5 at the Burr Oak Missionary Church Fellowship Hall, 327 N. Third St. in Burr Oak. In honoring David’s love of playing the lottery the family asks that those attending the celebration bring a scratch off ticket and at the given time at the that evening family and friends will have a mass scratch off in David’s memory.
