An Indiana man was arrested on drug-related offenses last week in Sturgis.
According to the Sturgis Police Department, officers were called at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to the area of South Maple and Mechanic streets regarding a subject passed out inside the driver’s seat of a pickup.
Officers talked to the man and soon became suspicious to the presence of drugs in the vehicle; the driver denied consent to search the truck.
The investigating officer asked for assistance from K-9 officer Tucky, which immediately reacted in a manner indicating an odor of narcotics.
Police located methamphetamine inside the vehicle. The suspect, a 27-year-old Shipshewana man, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a synthetic narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia and open intoxicants in a motor vehicle.
