Road commission summarizes hiring process

A summary of the process through which John Lindsey was hired as road commission managing director was provided by road commission board chairman Dave Allen during Tuesday’s county commission meeting.

Allen said he is convinced the board hired the right person.

The hiring process took a number of months and was described by Allen as open, methodical and transparent.

Allen, who was asked by commissioners to provide an agency update, said Lindsay will earn a fair salary at $105,000 a year. By comparison, Allen said Calhoun County is having a hard time finding someone to take its $130,000 offer for the same position.

Allen said he is confident that Lindsey, a 57-year-old lifelong Bronson resident, will stick around and not use the position as a stepping stone to a higher-paying job elsewhere.
