Shooting suspect arrested

A person suspected of being involved in a shooting this week in Vandalia is in custody by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said the incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Monday in the 17800 block of State Street. Investigators said a subject had fired several rounds at the house and then fled on foot. No one was injured as a result of the shooting.

Deputies were able to quickly locate and detain the subject involved in the incident. The suspect identified as being involved in the shooting was charged with multiple offenses and taken to the Cass County Jail.

Behnke said the subject’s name is being withheld pending arraignment on related charges.
